Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2026

WiSpyAlert ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our website and WiSpyAlert device.

The short version: We collect only what we need to provide our service. We don't sell your data. The device detects nearby wireless signals to protect your home—it doesn't identify individuals.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing). This allows us to associate your WiSpyAlert device with your account and provide you with service.

Waitlist Information: If you join our waitlist, we collect your name, email address, ZIP code, and optionally your phone number and how you heard about us.

Payment Information: Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or payment details on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of your payment information.

Device Data: Your WiSpyAlert device detects WiFi and Bluetooth signals (MAC addresses) within range of your home. This data is used solely to establish what is "normal" for your location and to detect unfamiliar devices approaching. We do not attempt to identify individuals from MAC addresses, and this data is not shared with third parties.

Authentication: We store a secure hashed key on your device to keep you logged in, so you don't need to enter credentials repeatedly.

How We Use Your Information

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Device detection data (MAC addresses) is retained only as long as necessary to maintain your "normal" baseline and is automatically cycled to keep the detection system current.

Cookies

Our website uses only essential cookies required for core functionality, such as maintaining your login session. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics services.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at support@wispyalert.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which it was collected, our business purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it. You also have the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@wispyalert.com.

We do not sell personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Children's Privacy

WiSpyAlert is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on our website with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of WiSpyAlert after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
